Hi, I’m Peter Fulop!
Welcome — I’m a software and data engineer focused on designing systems that scale data science, analytics, and decision-making.
I work across data platforms, automation, and AI-assisted engineering workflows. I care about building systems that are not only technically solid, but also easier for teams to operate, reason about, and improve.
I’ve worked across Snowflake, AWS, and GCP, and I’ve led technical initiatives and mentored engineers along the way. The work I enjoy most is the kind that sits between architecture and execution: making tradeoffs explicit, reducing operational drag, and helping teams ship reliable data products faster.
I am especially interested in Staff-level data engineering work: setting technical direction, improving platform reliability, leading migrations, mentoring engineers, and creating the operating discipline that keeps important work moving.
AI is now part of that picture for me. I use it daily in my engineering workflow, and I am focused on finding practical ways to help teams move faster without losing control over quality, context, or architectural intent.
What I focus on
The work I keep coming back to:
- scalable data platforms for analytics, data science, and operational reporting
- pipeline architecture, orchestration, and reliability
- migration strategy across data systems and cloud platforms
- engineering workflows that reduce toil and improve delivery
- AI-assisted development practices that increase throughput without replacing judgment
- mentoring, design reviews, and clearer technical decision-making
Why I write here
The engineering writing I find myself looking for is often about the layer between tutorials and tool advocacy: the decisions engineers make when both options are hard and the tradeoff is real.
That is what I want to write about here: pipeline architecture, migration strategy, parallel agent workflows, and the operating discipline that keeps the work shipping.
If a post helps someone make a clearer decision at their own company, the post worked.
